IDENTITY IN CHRIST | DAY 20
Matthew 5:13-14
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty? It’s no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. 14 “You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden.
I am called to be salty and reflect light
When I became a Christ follower in my early 30’s, I remember reading this and thinking, I’m already pretty salty! If that is your thought as well, this is different :) God is calling us to be new. To be renewed daily, and this is why. You and I are called to be salt and light! Let’s make sure not to overthink this. As I’m writing this devo, I’m also making some scrambled eggs. I salt and pepper them in the pan along with some other things. The salt accentuates the flavor of the eggs. It makes them taste better! You and I are called to bring a better flavor to life for those in need. We love differently, we forgive differently, and we find joy in suffering! Now that is different, and it points people in the direction of King Jesus. We are also called to be light. Our faith is not to be hidden, but to be on display for all of the world to see! As a city on a hill can not be hidden, neither can a Christ follower's light be hidden. We bring a different flavor of life to those God is calling, and we choose to be on display for all to see. Unashamed of our savior, and ready to speak the truth about who He is.
