LOVE JESUS. LOVE PEOPLE. MAKE DISCIPLES.

Who is Mission Church?

Before we get into how we do what we are called to do, I want to tell you who we are for clarity.

  1. We believe in the whole Bible, OT, and NT, which point to Jesus. We are called to obey God and to follow Jesus and do what He did

  2. We predominately teach verse by verse through the scriptures because it is how it was written. We give cross-references because scripture backs up scripture

  3. We believe in the sovereignty of God, past, present, and future. We ascribe to reformed theology unashamedly and know that God has a plan and a calling on His elect

  4. We believe that DISCIPLESHIP is a command (Matthew 28), not a recommendation. We see this as the lifeblood of our church locally and the church universal

  5. We see the local church working together to answer the call of Matthew 28, not just a few serving everyone else

“Love Jesus. Love People. Make Disciples"

Core Values:

1.) We go all out to share the love of Jesus.

Romans 12:1 Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship
  • Christ sacrificed for us

  • We sacrifice for others

  • Christ shows us mercy

  • We show mercy to others

2.) We take the gospel seriously but not ourselves

John 15:11 I have told you these things so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.
  • Joy in Christ, pleasure in life

  • No joy, no real pleasure

3.) We live in open, honest, and genuine community.

1st John 1:7-8 If we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say, “We have no sin,” we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
  • Fellowship through openness and honesty

  • We are all sinners. Get over yourself

  • You can’t insulate yourself from real community

  • You can, however, insulate yourself from God’s calling on your life to community

4.) We consider others as more important than ourselves.

Philippians 2:1-4 If then, there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2 make my joy complete by thinking the same way, having the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. 4 Everyone should look not to his own interests, but rather to the interests of others.

1.) Time (availability)

  • Serving on Sunday morning

  • Biggest needs right now: children’s ministry

  • Parents, we need you to help us with YOUR kids

  • We will get to the place where if you can’t help, we won’t be able to care for your children

  • There are plenty of other churches that will do it all for you. It’s not a biblical model. We do this together here at Mission Church.

2.) Talents (skillsets)

  • Deacon outreach

  • Missional outreach

  • Hosting homes for Community Groups

  • Leading and participating in Discipleship Groups

3.) Treasure (money)

  • Scripturally, we are all called to give

  • Not just the first two, but all three

  • You are called to give money sacrificially

  • This means some of you would like to tithe (give 10%) but can’t. You are giving sacrificially. This also means some of you are giving 10%, and it's not sacrificial. It doesn’t make a difference because you have a big income. You are called to be sacrificial. Pray about what is sacrificial to your context, not someone elses

  • Some of you call Mission Church your home, but you don’t give at all.

  • I don’t look at who gives and who doesn’t. I’m just saying if you are going to benefit from what we do, be a part by giving financially. Give. It’s a biblical command

5.) We strive every day to grow as disciples of Jesus.

We make disciples in the way of Jesus while growing as disciples ourselves.

Matthew 28:18-20 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
  • As you are going

  • Not a one-time thing

What makes Mission Church different?

We believe in Discipleship that is life-on-life, authentic, and replicable.
