Romans 15:30-33 | Part 6
Romans 15, Part 6
Prayer is for people in need
Are you in need? What are you in need of?
Non-Christian
Prayer is a gift given to you to realign your heart with the creator of the universe, the lover of your soul! It will be less about you, and more about Him!
Christian
How’s your prayer life?
Is it different than it was last year?
How often are you asking for prayer to share the Gospel?
Romans 15:30 | Now I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, through our Lord Jesus Christ and through the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in prayers to God on my behalf.
I appeal to you! This is urgent. Important!
This urgency is connecting Paul the leader, and the people to Christ and HIS urgency. This is not a preference
Strive with one another. Have HARMONY with each other. Doing what? Prayers for Paul.
Does Paul ask for prayers in other scriptures? Yes he does
Ephesians 6:18-19 | Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints. 19 Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.
All prayer needs matter
Pray for the message to be delivered!
Colossians 4:2-4 | Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving. 3 At the same time, pray also for us that God may open a door to us for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains, 4 so that I may make it known as I should
Prayer keeps you alert. Keeps you focused!
Pray for the message to be delivered
Romans 15:31-32 | Pray that I may be rescued from the unbelievers in Judea, that my ministry to Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints, 32 and that, by God’s will, I may come to you with joy and be refreshed together with you.
Paul the LEADER asks for very specific prayers
Paul’s prayer requests:
I need to be rescued
I want my ministry to be received
I want to spend time with you
33 May the God of peace be with all of you. Amen.

What we have learned from Romans 15:
1.) We have an obligation in our strength to care for others. This strength is enabled by waiting on the Lord
2.)
3.) Your comfort is not your calling. Outward-focused relationships must be a part of your Christian life. Peace comes from obedience in this calling.
4.) We are meant to do this WORK together, not be ourselves. Community has been created by God for His glory!
5.) When we have RECEIVED such a gift from God (Salvation) We are obligated to GIVE of our resources to others.
