IDENTITY IN CHRIST | DAY 9
Ephesians 2:18-19
For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 So, then, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of God’s household
I am a member of God's household
As a kid who went to church all the time with my family growing up, I had this vision of God the father. He was way off in the distance, on a giant throne. I knew he had sent His son to die for me but my thought was that he was busy with way more important people than me. That is a very religious, legalistic, response to God. So what does this passage say? A few VERY important parts of our relationship with God:
We have access to God the father because of God the son!
We aren’t strangers let in the back door. So who are we?
Citizens of Heaven, and FAMILY with Jesus and God the father
Think about the privileges you have with your family. You don’t have to knock on the door. Why? You live there. It’s your house. You can get something to eat from the refrigerator. You can turn on the tv, or go upstairs and take a nap. Why? It’s your house. You are a part of the family! God, the Father has adopted us into HIS family through God the son. You have direct access to Him! He’s your Dad :)
