Colossians 1:9
For this reason also, since the day we heard this, we haven’t stopped praying for you. We are asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding
I have been given knowledge, wisdom, and spiritual understanding
Ok, first off, what reason? The Colossian church was filled with people who had become Christ's followers! They were different. They loved God, and deeply desired change! That’s you and me! Three huge gifts are given to them, and since we Christians are also a part of the body of Christ, these gifts are given to us as well.
1.) Knowledge
This means full discernment of things ethical and divine. Not only knowledge of everyday needs, but of Godly purpose!
2.) Wisdom
Earthly wisdom is good. We need it. Godly wisdom is connected to eternity. Game changer!
3.) Spiritual understanding
This word in greek is connected to our word English word, synthesis. It means running together or flowing together. We can understand to a certain degree, but when filled with the Holy Spirit this is understanding on the highest level.
The church is praying for you in these things! And you and I, as a part of the church are called to lift others up in these same areas. Why? It gives God all glory, strengthens the church, and strengthens individuals. ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST!!
