Romans 8:16-17
The Spirit himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God’s children, 17 and if children, also heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.
I am an heir of God with responsibilities
Ever seen a court case live? It’s a bit different than the movies but very serious. When someone testifies about a situation, by law, they have to tell the truth. If caught lying, they can go to jail for perjury. God the Holy Spirit testifies for you! He tells the truth about who you are, and what you are. God’s child, sibling of Jesus, and heir to a beyond comprehension eternity. Is it free? Yes, it is. Does it come with responsibilities? Yes, it does. I’m willing to die for my earthly family, my wife, and my kids. Because I love them. I’m willing to suffer. God, the Father is calling us to be a part of His family in every way. Being His children, receiving His name, a forever in place in His family, and the honor to suffer in His son’s name.
