IDENTITY IN CHRIST | DAY 5
2 Timothy 1:9
He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.
I have been called
Growing up before cell phones, my Mom would call me by going to the front door, and yelling, “Tommy! Time to come inside!” This was a cue, actually a command that I was to stop what I was doing and obey. Immediately. Anyone had parents like that? :) For the Christian, when God calls us He is not recommending a response. He is demanding it. I know this may be uncomfortable for some of you to hear, but it’s the truth. So let's dig a bit more into the scripture and ask, why is God commanding us to respond? It’s because He has a purpose, AND it's because He is graceful. 1) His purpose is to glorify Himself by calling you to a GREATER calling than you have ever experienced! This is a good thing, not a bad thing! 2) Grace is God loving you, saving you, protecting you, and now CALLING you to the best life you can possibly live. For His glory, and your greater good. Not leaving you in your sin and future death. That is grace!
