Romans 8:1
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.
I am no longer condemned
So in the Bible, whenever you read a “therefore”, you have to ask, “What is it there for?” I know, almost a Dad joke, but its true. To better understand this verse, which is going to blow your mind, check out the next to last verse in the previous chapter:
Romans 7:24
What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?
This clarifies some things. The early church was just as disgusted with themselves as we are. You may experience this self-talk frequently. Here’s the deal. We are wretched. Your sin, my sin has isolated us apart from Christ. We do need to be rescued. Enter King Jesus!! The first four devotionals of Identity have been for you to understand just how much Jesus CHOOSES to rescue you. You are important. Now, let’s look at the verse for today with fresh eyes: NO CONDEMNATION in Jesus Christ. NONE. Let’s review some of the condemning statements most of us hear: You’re stupid, You don’t know what you are doing, No one likes you, You have nothing to offer, No one will ever love you, Your sexual history marks you forever, Your abusive history marks you forever, You will never change. I’m sure you can think of a few more, but you get it, right? These are absolute statements that the enemy wants to define you with. And defeat you. Jesus plan is to build you up, so here is a hack for you. Any of those negative statements? THEY NEVER COME FROM JESUS. There is no condemning in Christ, but their is declaration. I’ll leave you with a few of those: You are a child of God. You have been given a new name. You have been sealed by God for His glory. You are a part of the body of Christ. You are precious in God’s eyes.
